Get an immersive experience from the Chorotegan indigenous community who will pass on to you the history of their ancestors alongside the techniques and tradition of making beautiful ceramics. Santa Cruz is part of Guanacaste’s Chorotega indigenous zone where the beautiful ceramic crafts of Guaitil are produced. Enjoy and learn on a tour where they will show you how these crafts of great heritage value and ancient tradition are made. You are going to be able to see from how they take the special clay, to the ceramic assembling, painting, and finally, you can ask for the piece you make to be shipped to your home.
What to expect?
- A master class with a Guaitil expert on how to make the ceramics alongside storytelling about their heritage and history.
- Make a small craft, that with an add-on it can be finished in the oven and shipped to your home.
- A display of crafts made by local indigenous artists
